Sew Your Own Backpack

Saturday, March 1 - Sunday, March 2, 2025 | 10A - 3P | Weekend workshop | $200

Construct the Making Backpack from Noodlehead. Make the regular size or the new mini version (both are included in the pattern). This bag features: webbing handles, adjustable straps with rings and sliders, an exterior pocket (either a slip pocket or a zippered pocket), an interior zippered pocket, and a binding finish on the inside. The perfect accessory for a day hike in the woods, traveling to and from work, or running errands in town.

Supplies: Students are required to purchase the pattern in advance. Bring your sewing machine (plus its feet and manual) or use one of the studio's sewing machines.

Students are encouraged to purchase their fabric in advance of class. We recommend canvas (7-9 oz. weight), waxed canvas (8-10 oz. weight), or dry oilskin for exterior fabric, quilting cotton for lining fabric All hardware and webbing will be supplied.

This weekend class is geared toward beginners who want to learn about basic techniques, tools and materials involved in creating mosaic art. Participants will learn how to cut & use various kinds of tesserae, use of proper adhesives, design/layout and grouting. Students will be introduced to a wide variety of materials and will complete a small intro tile in addition to a 2-D project of their own design during the class. Students will be encouraged to experiment with color and texture to begin to discover the possibilities of mosaic. All materials, supplies and use of tools are provided. Come experience the endless possibilities of this beautiful art form!

Students are encouraged to bring tiles, glass, beads, broken china, or any other interesting objects they may wish to add to a mosaic.

Students should wear old clothing and bring: apron, cotton rags for cleaning, & sturdy kitchen gloves for mixing & spreading grout.
