Explore prong settings in this weekend workshop. Make prongs from wire, sheet metal, and tubing, and experiment with commercially-available prongs. you’ll learn how to set for round, oval, emerald, triangular/trillion, and even odd-shaped stones.
Supplies: Materials are not included with registration, but may be purchased in the studio supply shop. An estimated materials fee is $10 - 30, dependent upon your chosen project.
We will use sterling prong settings, but gold settings are available.

Are you a confident beginner or intermediate sewist? Join us for a weekend intensive working on wardrobe-worthy projects. Bring your own patterns or make a top and bottom set of tried and true wardrobe staples, as you learn new skills and perfect the ones you know.
Coffee and snacks will be provided each day, so you can spend the weekend stitching.
Supplies: Mary will be in touch with students in advance of the class to discuss your goals and appropriate fabric selection.
Students may be expected to purchase sewing patterns in advance. We recommend having your patterns printed on size A0 paper at your local copy shop. Ask the shop to print at 100% with no scaling or tiling.
Bring your sewing machine or use a studio machine.

Learn one of the oldest crafts in human history by making your own pack-basket. Create a beautiful, durable, and useful basket crafted from local and responsibly harvested, hand-pounded black ash logs. Craft a daypack sized traditional Adirondack style pack-basket with cedar runners and base and adjustable webbing straps. Discussion and demonstration on how the material is harvested and processed. Additional $80 materials fee payable to instructor.

Intro to Mosaics (SOLD OUT)
Friday, May 17, 2024 | 5 - 8P | Saturday, May 18, 2024 | 8A - 4P | Sunday, May 19, 2024 | 9A - 4P | Weekend workshop | $200
This weekend class is geared toward beginners who want to learn about basic techniques, tools and materials involved in creating mosaic art. Participants will learn how to cut & use various kinds of tesserae, use of proper adhesives, design/layout and grouting. Students will be introduced to a wide variety of materials and will complete a small intro tile in addition to a 2-D project of their own design during the class. Students will be encouraged to experiment with color and texture to begin to discover the possibilities of mosaic. All materials, supplies and use of tools are provided. Come experience the endless possibilities of this beautiful art form!
Students are encouraged to bring tiles, glass, beads, broken china, or any other interesting objects they may wish to add to a mosaic.
Students should wear old clothing and bring: apron, cotton rags for cleaning, & sturdy kitchen gloves for mixing & spreading grout.
