Keumboo is an ancient Korean art of applying thin gold sheet or gold fill onto silver and fusing the gold to silver. It is a way of adding color and gold at a lower cost to silver than to use gold sheet and yet it adds to the value of jewelry. We will be using pure 24kt gold foil and bonding it onto silver sheet, using a hotplate and burnishers to press the gold into the silver using heat and pressure.

Through an exploration of one of the most simple yet effective forms in the jeweler’s toolkit, students will manipulate wire to form diverse linkages. Using both hot and cold connections, learn techniques for joining and embellishing chains to create earrings, a necklace or bracelet that is both elegant and complex!

Sketch Book Club is a casual weekly gathering focused on building a joyful journaling habit to support your craft practice. Prompts are designed to be unexpected, sometimes funny, sometimes reflective, and always open-ended. Over the course of the class, your sketchbook will become a place to notice, wonder, and explore without pressure. All skill levels are welcome.
